Santa Clarita & The San Fernando Valley Garbage Disposal Replacement

A disposal that hums and won't spin, trips its reset button, or leaks from the bottom is finished or close to it. We replace it and check the drain it empties into.

8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. No after-hours emergency service.

Sounds familiar?

  1. Hums, won't spinJammed or a failing motor. Try the reset and the hex key first.
  2. Leaks underneathFrom the bottom of the unit means the housing has failed.
  3. Keeps trippingA reset button that pops again and again is a motor near its end.
  4. Slow to drainOften the drain line behind it, not the disposal.

How We Handle Garbage Disposal Replacement

A jam can often be cleared: power off, the reset button on the bottom, and the hex key socket in the center to free the plate. If it hums but won't turn after that, or it keeps tripping, the motor is going.

A leak from the bottom of the unit is the housing itself, and that isn't repairable. A leak from where it meets the sink or the drain pipe is a seal or a connection, and sometimes that's a repair.

A new disposal is also a chance to look at the kitchen drain line behind it. A disposal can't fix a drain that's slow because the line is coated with grease.

Garbage Disposal Replacement Questions

Can a garbage disposal be repaired?

A jam usually can be cleared, and a loose connection can be resealed. A unit that leaks from its own housing or has a burned-out motor needs replacing.

Why does my sink drain slowly with a new disposal?

Because the clog is usually in the kitchen drain line, not the disposal. Grease builds up in the line over years. Clearing or jetting the line fixes that.
